More than a rain umbrella for your bike

Wip is a functional weather protection for cyclists, offering you comfort in all weathers throughout the year.

Whether you’re commuting to work, running errands, or enjoying a relaxed weekend ride – if you’ve always wanted to avoid soaking wet clothes, rain in your face, and cold headwinds while cycling, Wip is the perfect solution for you.

A product for now

Cycling often gets you around the city much faster than a car. As a result, more and more people are regularly using bicycles for commuting to work and for everyday journeys.

However, when the weather turns and it gets cold and rainy, many of us prefer to use cars and other means of transport.

Our mission is to make cycling comfortable in cold, rain, and wind, promoting the bike as your go-to transportation, regardless of weather.

Functionality and Comfort Combined

During the development process, it was crucial for us to provide maximum comfort without limiting your cycling experience.

Wip offers robust protection against rain and cold winds. Even in heavy rain, you stay over 90% dry. The built-in window ensures optimal visibility.

Its aerodynamic and robust design performs well even at high speeds, without increasing wind resistance.

Wip is cleverly designed and easy to handle.

In rain, Wip keeps you and your clothes, including pants, 90-95% dry.

The built-in pane ensures optimal visibility in all weather conditions.

The modular design allows the lower part to be used independently as a pure wind, cold, and insect shield.

Assembly and disassembly take seconds, similar to a minimalist pop-up tent. It is attached to the bike using 2 handlebar ends provided.

Wip effectively protects against cold. By shielding the cold headwind, the air feels about 10 degrees warmer than without protection.

The aerodynamic and robust design enables use even at high speeds.

Weighing in at less than 1kg, Wip is a real lightweight and can be compactly stored in the provided bag when not in use.

Wip is compatible with nearly all common touring, trekking, and city bikes.

With just two handling steps, Wip can be set up and taken down like a pop-up tent within seconds.

Wip attached to the handlebars

Quick attachment

For use, Wip is simply inserted into the provided mounts (similar to handlebar ends) and fixed with an additional clip at the level of the head tube.

Wip in bag attached to the luggage rack

Easily storable

When not in use, Wip can be stored in the corresponding bag on the bike. Depending on available space, the bag can be attached either to the luggage carrier or the handlebar stem.

Modularity for All Weather Conditions

Wip enhances cycling comfort even in dry weather.

The lower part can be used independently as a pure wind, cold and insect shield.

Secure Parking

In the optional parking position, Wip also keeps your bike dry when you’re away.

Wip is patented and has been awarded gold at the Geneva and Nuremberg inventors’ fairs.

Wip put to the extreme

Wip offers protection against extreme conditions and also proves extremely reliable in the stress test in the car wash.

Set-up and dismantling

Wip can be set up and taken down in just a few seconds like a pop up tent. It is attached using a bracket supplied (similar to handlebar ends).

FAQ

Can I skip wearing rain gear if I use Wip?

Wip blocks more than 90% of rain and preventing wet pants. In heavy rain, a rain jacket is advised since Wip isn’t fully enclosed. Wip aims for a comfortable ride in bad weather and prevents the risk of getting soaked and cold.

How fast can I ride with Wip?

The robust design ensures full functionality even at high speeds up to 45 km/h. So, you can pedal away without worry.

How does Wip perform in the wind?

In developing Wip, we ensured it’s robust for daily use, stable and functional in wind and at high speeds. However, we would like to inform you, that in the event of strong and stormy winds, you should generally stop using the bikes due to the generally increased risk of accidents when cycling.

Do I have increased wind resistance due to Wip?

The aerodynamic design prevents a noticeable increase in drag. Essentially, this is because Wip has a better drag coefficient than the average touring cyclist. However, the surface area increases slightly in return. It is not possible to make a general statement here, as it very much depends on the size and riding position of the individual cyclist.
What we can say, is that in countless practical tests with a speedometer, we were unable to detect any measurable increase in air resistance with Wip.

Why and how effectively does WIP protect me from the cold?

Due to the wind chill effect, the air temperature feels 10 degrees colder at normal cycling speeds than it actually is. Wip counteracts this effect by shielding against the cold headwind, making cycling in the colder seasons significantly warmer.

Can I attach Wip to my bike and how long does the initial installation take?

Our product fits all bicycles with handlebars 55-75 cm wide. Wip requires a one-time installation at 3 points at the bike: two bar ends and a head tube clip. Simply push your grips in by 2 cm and secure the bar ends with 4 screws. This installation just takes you a few minutes. A guide and all necessary components are included.

What should I do with Wip when it’s not in use?

When not in use, store Wip in its bag on the bike or at home, or hang it on the wall assembled. You might also prefer its modular design for comfort in dry weather. Just remove the top part for wind, cold and insect protection.
